Reprieve for delisted Saint
St Kilda has delisted three players - including experienced duo Craig Callaghan and Steven Lawrence - and two rookie-list players in the lead up to the November National AFL draft. However, the Saints have 'guaranteed' to redraft the 27 year-old Callaghan unless another club pounces earlier in the draft. The Saints have also delisted young ruckman Chris Oliver and rookie-list players Ben Schwarze and Jordan Barham.

Gram fulfils dream
Jason Gram barracked for St Kilda as a kid, idolising Tony Lockett. And his best mate Matthew Ferguson just happens to be down at Moorabbin as well. So imagine Gram's delight yesterday when the first official trade week deal sent him to the Saints.

Jason Gram
DOB 27/4/84, 186cm, 84kg. The athletic wingman had a standout 2001 season with Gippsland Power, kicking what was arguably goal of the year where he ran the ball from the half back line through the middle of the ground to half forward, using his agility to evade several tacklers and kick the goal from 50 metres out. Gram is extremely athletic and has a basketball background. His style of play is similar to the old-fashioned tall wingman who runs forward of the play to outmark his opponent in the forward line and kick a handful of goals. Expect Gram to be given more game time this season.

Black failed by 'dopey' system
St Kilda coach Grant Thomas said fate had served the club well on this occasion. "We're thrilled because we never wanted to lose Heath," said Thomas, He believed the ill-fated attempts to find trades for Hawthorn's Jade Rawlings and Port Adelaide's Nick Stevens had held up other trades, such as the Black deal.
