SMALL MIDFIELDERS

1. Dean Chester (North Ballarat Rebels) 05.07.85 178 cm. 66 kg. Small, outside midfielder/forward with electrifying pace and good goal sense. Good front and square player. Missed the National AFL U/18 Championships due to injury-interrupted season. From Portland F.C
2. Alex Gilmour (Tassie Mariners) 29.06.86 180 cm. 68 kg. Medium-sized utility with footy smarts. Good one-on-one and capable of finding a lot of the footy. Missed the National AFL U/18 Championships due to injury, but has since been impressive with Tasmania in the VFL. From Wynyard FC.
3. Luke Herrington (Dandenong Stingrays) 04.01.86 177 cm. 74 kg. Small, inside midfielder/forward. Goal kicker who reads the play very well and is a great mark for his size. Kicked 17 goals at this year's National AFL U/18 Championships. Named Vic Metro's most valuable player of the championships, and won all-Australian honours. From Crib Point FC.
4. Harry Miller (Port Adelaide Magpies) 11.06.85 174 cm. 75 kg. Small, outside midfielder/forward with a great leap. Has good speed and knows where the goals are. SA U/18 representative this year. From Mallee Park FC.
5. Leigh Ryswyk (Southport) 16.01.85 179 cm. 74 kg. Small, outside midfielder with pace. Likes to carry the ball and has good endurance. QLD U/18 representative this year.
6. Tim Schmidt (West Adelaide) 14.03.86 178 cm. 79 kg. Small, inside midfielder with clean disposal skills and is strong in the air. Joint U/16 B & F medal winner in 2002. AIS-AFL Academy member and SA U/18 representative this year. From Robertstown FC.
7. Brent Stanton (Northern Knights) 01.05.86 180 cm. 76 kg. Medium midfielder who reads the play well and has very good disposal skills. Excellent overhead for his size. AIS-AFL Academy member and Vic Metro representative in 2003. From Banyule FC.
8. Jacob Surjan (South Fremantle) 15.08.85 179 cm. 75 kg. Small, inside left foot midfielder with good goal sense. Reads ball well off packs. WA representative in 2003. From South Coogee FC.
9. Josh Willoughby (Glenelg) 11.01.86 176 cm. 69 kg. Small, inside forward/midfielder. Smart reader of the play up forward with excellent goal sense. Has clean hands and is a good mark for his size. 10. Josh Bartel (Murray Bushrangers) 23.04.85 191 cm. 75 kg. Medium, outside midfielder who is a long, accurate kick and always uses the ball well. Presents well when up forward. From Wodonga FC.
11. Adam Bentick (Calder Cannons) 13.06.85 184 cm. 79 kg. Medium, inside midfielder who has great vision and awareness, as well as a work ethic to match. Good user of the ball, and always contributes a high number of tackles and one 'per centres' to the team effort. Vic Metro representative in 2003. From St Bernards FC.
12. Adam Cooney (West Adelaide) 30.09.85 186 cm. 81 kg. Medium, inside midfielder who can play back or forward and is capable of kicking goals. Exciting, dashing type who won McCallum Medal as the SANFL's U/17 B & F in 2002. Has balance and skill and was a member of the 2002 AIS-AFL Academy. All-Australian U/18 in 2002 and 2003. 17. Brad Symes (Central District07.03.85 185 cm. 75 kg. Medium defender/midfielder who is strong over the ball. Good hand and foot skills. Member of AIS-AFL Academy in 2002. 18. Kane Tenace (Murray Bushrangers) 04.07.85 181 cm. 80 kg. Medium, inside midfielder who has exceptional pace and ball handling ability. Can break free in a pack situations to run and carry the ball forward. High possession winner who always hits targets. All-Australian U/18 in 2003 after representing Vic Country. From Shepparton FC

20. Callum Burges (West Perth) 15.05.86 185 cm. 80 kg. Medium midfielder with excellent athletic qualities. From Hale School. Had limited WAFL exposure this year. Dynamic when up forward and penetrating kick. In initial WA U16's squad last year. In initial WA U16's squad last year.

23. Raphael Clarke (St Marys - Darwin) 24.09.85 189 cm 78 kg Medium, outside forward who rarely gets beaten one-on-one. Athletic type, with a good aerobic capacity. AIS-AFL Academy member and won All-Australian honours in 2002. Brother of Xavier who is at St Kilda.
24. Ben Cosgriff (Murray Bushrangers) 19.08.85 186 cm 90 kg Medium, inside key forward. Excellent mark and kick who has physical strength and aggression. Is capable of playing in defence and providing run. From Shepparton FC.
25. Paul Duffield (South Fremantle) 05.02.85 185 cm 80 kg Medium, inside forward who can also play down back. Smart player with good foot skills. WA U/18 representative this year. From West Authur FC.
26. Ryley Dunn (Murray Bushrangers) 07.10.85 182 cm 80 kg Medium, inside forward/defender who has is hard around contests. Likes it in tight, and has clean hands. All-Australian at both 2002 and 2003 National AFL U/18 Championships for Vic Country. From Shepparton FC.
27. Ricky Dyson (Northern Knights) 28.08.85 181 cm 75 kg Medium, outside forward/midfielder with pace. Penetrating left foot kick who is dangerous from outside 50. 30. Colin Sylvia (Bendigo Pioneers) 08.11.85 183 cm 82 kg Medium, inside forward/midfielder who is a tremendous tackler. His kicking and overhead marking are both outstanding. Player who leads by example. Great work ethic and very competitive. All-Australian U/18 in 2003. From Merbein FC.
31. David Trotter (Calder Cannons) 04.03.86 185 cm 77 kg Medium, inside forward/defender and running player who reads the game well. Uses the ball well and can go forward and kick goals. Member of AIS-AFL Academy in 2003. Attends Assumption College, but represented NSW/ACT RAMS in the National AFL U/18 Championships this year. From Lockhart in the Riverina.

33. Darren Brakenridge (North Adelaide) 25.01.85 187 cm 81 kg Tall, inside defender or forward who is strong overhead. Excellent cricketer and athlete. Originally from Peterborough FC.
34. Luke Buckland (Geelong Falcons) 19.04.85 188 cm 75 kg Medium, inside defender and intelligent footballer. Attacks the ball with authority, and can play tall or small. From Geelong Amateurs FC.
35. Jake Furfaro (Mt. Gravatt) 04.02.85 185 cm 87 kg Strong, medium, defender, who is an excellent kick and has good hands in a marking contest. Plays aggressive football and has leadership qualities. Winner of the Harrison Medal for best Division Two player at the National AFL U/18 Championships. All-Australian U/18 in 2003.
36. Brett Jones (Claremont) 06.02.82 187 cm 80 kg Medium, inside defender who can go forward if needed. Aggressive, hard at it type who is in his first year at Claremont after playing amateurs last year. Is also a gifted cricketer, playing for the WA 2nd XI last year.
