POSTGAME

The Melee:
St Kilda quartet Lenny Hayes, skipper Aaron Hamill, Heath Black and Stephen Powell all copped $4500 fines while fellow Saints Fraser Gehrig and Steven Lawrence each got $4000, Brett Moyle and Steven Baker $3000 and veteran Robert Harvey $1500. Harvey was the only one of the 18 players to plead not guilty but the tribunal found that his actions in pulling Bulldogs interchange player Daniel Cross away from the brawl constituted some involvement in the melee - albeit a minor one.
Nick Riewoldt: Adding some humour to what was a tense tribunal hearing said that Romero's actions had "Probably saved me a few Grand".

The Passion
Saints supporters love to see the passion and commitment. The brawl has been snatched by the media and has given the Saints the coverage we deserve. Whilst it cost us big biccies, the Saints memberships has risen incredibly and we now have a chance of beating our all time membership record, this will be great for sponsorship and the club and get a pile of people back to the games. After watching some of the replay, we were lucky not to lose players for a week or two, maybe our luck has turned a little.

Grant Thomas: The Game "We've definitely got to finish better and finish sides off." he said; "We felt that the first side to settle down and gain some composure was going to be the side that would get a bit of a break. To our credit we did that and we got focused back on the game again".

Former skipper Robert Harvey had a day-out, collecting 28 touches, while Austinn Jones was damaging with his rebound out of defence and Aaron Hamill showed why he was appointed to lead the Saints in 2003, with an inspirational performance up forward.
