Steven Lawrence: "Coming from Brisbane when they had a full list and they had the young blokes coming through, spots (in the senior side) were always tight and it's improved us a team, but down here (St Kilda) the youth down here are better than the youth at Brisbane (at that time)."

Woody: Anyone may be able to coach these kids . . . but no-one but Thomas would have shown the resolve and long term thinking to get them all at the club in the first place. He may not be a match day genius but he has St Kilda at Heart. Wallace or Eade would have traded away the top picks (like Freo and Richmond did) to get the quick fix. - Saintsational Forum - 29Apr03 - » Thread

Andrew Demetriou: AFL football operations general manager Andrew Demetriou confirmed to The Age yesterday that the trials had been deemed a success. He added that the umpires would not debut in their coloured kit until round eight for logistical and practical reasons. "We're looking at games where both teams have a lot of white in their jumpers." He added that several dozen uniforms in each of the three colours were ordered last month and were due to arrive today.
