Scorpions vs Frankston at Moorabbin Practice Match
Brendon Goddard 'saintsRrising' notes: Basically playing midfield ... and playing beautifully!!! winning the ball very well as well as receiving and with long precise kicking. BJ looks slimmer compared to last year ... so maybe midfield this year?? Looks like he could play Round 1 ... I don't know what the conditioning guys report will be ... but BJ was moving very well.
'plugger66' notes: BJ looked good in the first half
'spiral2' notes: BJ looked good, kicked well and got the footy
'nick' notes: BJ Looked fantastic. BOG by a country mile. Looked strong in the tackle, good hands, great skills at ground level and his kicking was phenomenal as we expect from him. No strapping at all around the knee either, and ran very well over the ground. Expect him there for round 1.

Saints open to Scorps chasing Cousins
... St Kilda football manager Matthew Drain said the Saints would be open to Casey Scorpions chasing Cousins. "We haven't discussed it with our VFL affiliate at the moment. I wouldn't say it would be totally out of the question ... but it would be a matter of how Ben's rehabilitating himself, which I would have thought would be the No. 1 priority," Drain said.

Hutchison heads up Scorpions
Just over a month after Peter Banfield's controversial departure, the Casey Scorpions have announced former Melbourne utility Greg Hutchison as their new senior head coach. The appointment was confirmed on Tuesday after a procession of coaches had been interviewed. Former St Kilda star and two-time Narre Warren premiership coach Austinn Jones was notified on Monday that he had not been offered the job. Jones is now a prime candidate for the vacant Gippsland Power TAC Cup coaching post. Hutchison, 50, played 96 games and kicked 21 goals for the Demons from 1975-84, and also had a 13-game stint as caretaker coach of the club in 1997 after Neil Balme was sacked. He has been involved in a variety of roles as an assistant coach at Australian Football League (AFL) level with Richmond and the Kangaroos since 1999. Hutchison also coached Prahran in the Victorian Football Association (VFA) between 1986 and 1989 and was keen to return to the head coaching ranks.

St Kilda Football Club and the Casey Scorpions Football Club have announce the appointment of Greg Hutchinson as senior coach for the Scorpions in 2008. Hutchinson will also play a key role in the development of the Saints' younger players in this newly created full-time position and will work closely with Danny Sexton, St Kilda's Development Coach. Hutchinson has an outstanding background of coaching experience with over 20 years at the elite levels in the AFL and VFL. He was most recently with the Kangaroos as a midfield coach and is looking forward to working in a full-time capacity to strengthen the St Kilda/Casey alignment.

... Another great appointment to add to the others already in place, I don't care if he is a Casey or Club appointment he is another full time quality person at the club, if he is full time then he will have to spend his days with the Saints and his nights with Casey, all that adds up to one thing, a better understanding of our developing players, game plans, ability and attitude of our list ... all of which will result in a greater chance of Casey winning and our list developing faster. - 'RBnW' SS
