Harvey not finished yet
As unpalatable as the idea may seem, Robert Harvey admits this year
is likely to be his last in a Saints' guernsey. The champion midfielder
will break the club's games record when he takes the field against the
Cats on Friday, turns 35 in August and is pondering his exit from the
game he loves. "When you weigh it up and look at it, it's most likely
going to be this year, so hopefully that's with a premiership and (I'm)
really happy and see you later," Harvey replied when asked about his
thoughts on retirement at a Thursday media conference at Moorabbin.

Thomas expects no special effort
As much as Grant Thomas respects Robert Harvey as a player and his
achievement in setting a new club games record, he doesn't expect any
extra effort from his players when they take the field against the Cats
on Friday. The game will be Harvey's 324th - taking him past previous
record holder Nathan Burke - and Thomas was asked if he thought his
players would make a special effort to mark the occasion. "It's an
interesting point because if we're able to go harder than we expect the
team to go (each week), as coach I'll be asking some questions," Thomas
said from Moorabbin on Thursday. The Article Jason Phelan/Sportal/saints.com.au/11May06

Family fears over Koschitzke's future
St Kilda president Rod Butterss has revealed Justin Koschitzke's
mother was concerned for her son's future after his sickening head
clash with Bulldog Daniel Giansiracusa on Saturday. The luckless
Koschitzke was yesterday still resting in hospital after fracturing his
skull and being knocked unconscious in the Saints' win over the Western
Bulldogs at Telstra Dome. The club said last night it was waiting on
reports from doctors to find out when Koschitzke would be discharged
from hospital. The latest injury setback is expected to sideline the
talented ruckman-forward for at least six weeks. Butterss said
yesterday Koschitzke's family had been rocked by their son's latest
injury.

Eight years later, Alves back at Moorabbin
It has taken almost eight years, three coaches and not a little
amount of reconstructive surgery at Moorabbin, but Stan Alves returned
there this week for the first time since being told in no uncertain
terms that he was no longer welcome at St Kilda. Not that there was any
fanfare. In fact, Alves himself was one of the few who realised the
significance of the occasion as he walked through his old offices and
changing rooms. Although St Kilda president Rod Butterss had broken the
ice several years earlier, this time the invitation was extended by
coach Grant Thomas, who asked the former St Kilda coach to teach the
Saints' list how to coach themselves.

Premier tagger is jack of all trades
If you think Steven Baker is a one dimensional player, you'd better
think again. The game's premier tagger has sewn up some of the game's
premier on-ballers and small forwards, building a reputation as the
game's ultimate shadow. Baker's performance in restricting Chris Judd
to just eight touches in last year's encounter at Subiaco cemented the
term "King of Taggers" to the former Geelong Falcon. Since his debut in
1999, Baker has honed his skills with some great defenders and after
six seasons, his hard work and dedication to the club culminated in
winning the Trevor Barker Medal as Club champion with current skipper
Luke Ball. The Article Luca Giacobello/saints.com.au/09May06
