Saints edge Roos at Moorabbin
A virtual St Kilda 'B' side scored a nine-point win over the Kangaroos in their Wizard Regional Challenge Series match at Moorabbin on Friday. The Saints held the lead from early in the second quarter, and though the Roos got close in the end, they lacked fire power in an attack missing Nathan Thompson. The Saints would be encouraged by the prominence of exciting forward Stephen Milne, who kicked two second-term goals, and by the fact that Matt Maguire got through his second hit-out of the pre-season after recovering from osteitis pubis.

Big Red Match Report
The first quarter was pretty ordinary. I thought guerra's bump was the real highlight. Both teams really struggled to convert and turnovers were happening all over the place. Some forced, some just woefull . . . From both sides. Ackland was good in the first qtr . . . Did better out of the ruck and showed great mobility and disposal. He's a good player methinks. Teamed well with Brooksy today....Quite pleasing. We started the game with Goose, Banger, Lenny, & Vossy on the bench for entire first quarter. When we were so close to the near full strength Roos side at quarter time, I thought that when the 'A' team went on the ground we were a good show . . . And we were. Lenny and Banger went into the guts in the second, and just took control. Lenny was at his best. His workrate is outstanding. Banger just kept finding it again and again. Seriously, they were fantastic . . . Andrew Thompson then decided he wasnt going to be left out . . . Some of his hardball/inandunder work today was brilliant . . . He hit the deck hard . . . And earned the footy. Frankie, as said in other threads was just in space the whole time . . . Just drifts forward or back . . . gets the ball. Then he used it well also . . . Cant beat experience . . . Those two will be very important later in the year.

AFL doctors reject KO research
The 16 AFL clubs are resisting an international push to upgrade their matchday approach to concussion, rejecting computerised testing of players during games as impractical, expensive and unnecessary. The Age believes that most AFL club doctors were unimpressed when the recommendations from the 2004 International Symposium on Concussion in Sport were delivered at the annual meeting of the AFL Medical Officers Association. The symposium, sanctioned by the International Olympic Committee and world soccer's governing body, FIFA, has dictated that concussed players should not return to the field in professional sport unless they have successfully completed a computerised response test not unlike a series of simple card games. Coming at an annual cost to each club of about $1000 a year, the test, produced by the Australian company CogState, would require internet access in players' rooms and take at least 11 minutes to complete.
